Hey, guys! I'm interested to know how you feel about the old 2D PV and the old concept of our current favorite show! Mainly because it is what made me and several other fans to be interested in the show years before ML aired.
And please let's go beyond Felix talk. There are many other details in the PV that spoke a lot about the possibilities of the show. The interesting difference I found in the 2D and CGI was Hawkmoth (without his oh so fabulous ensemble in the 3D show now) conversing with Mr. Mime. Perhaps in the old show, Mr. Mime and Mr. Pigeon were the two main underlings of Hawkmoth and that they don't really transform back into civilians? If Hawkdaddy made statements about this then forgive me for being so clueless XD
Also Marinette's hair back then was longer!

Hawk Moth in this version looks a lot like Gabriel in the CGI version (maybe a clue for the real indentity of HM?XD). Mr Pigeon is so funny, thank goodness he has not changed at all. I liked the 2D trailer and their characters a lot, but once I saw the CGI trailer, I realized I like more Adrien than Felix. The 2D Marinette is a sweetheart. Jeremy Zag announced a future 2D OVA of ML, let's see if it is as successful as the old 2D PV at the time.

I definitely loved the darker tones of the PV. It makes me wonder how different the show would have been if they followed the storyline they set out in the PV!
And 3D Marinette was just so cute. I love her so much, and her Ladybug outfit. But omg I wish they had let Tikki keep her clover! Tikki was so cute with the clover on her forehead!

The PV is decent. The best looking character in my opinion is the Mime. I also loved how grand the backgrounds seem and seeing Paris at night was sweet. I wish the current show would up the budget and bring Paris to life.
Marinette looked okay. She looked more ditzy than her CGI self. I have a feeling she would have been the typical magical girl character.

Yes, I really do feel for the darker tones of the PV. I think it's what attracted me to the 2D PV (aside from the love square and cutesy Marinette, of course XD). Mr. Mime and Mr. Pigeon as fixed villains rather than one-time-akumatized ones is really interesting for me. Plus points for actually having the main villain's face revealed and not behind a mask but don't worry, Hawkmoth, u still fab for me XD.
Marinette in shorts gave me the first impression that she would be somewhat sporty. XD is that weird?
Also yes yes yes on the backgrounds. :'D I honestly expected a lot for the backgrounds and locations for the current show, but yeah, budget and render time. And my biased eye really prefers 2D cartoon backgrounds because of how versatile details could be.

Yeah the darker tones in the PV were awesome, and i still hope some of that makes it into the current series, even if it's dumbed down for the kiddies.
Felix looked like a cliche anime stereotype (though im pretty sure everyones heard that by now). I doubt i would've liked him. Though take me back to my tweens and i would've ADORED him, because shitty romance plots and anime douchebags were my jam. So glad we got Adrien instead. He's a far more interesting character. Then again, we never did see much of Felix so.... and i know you said not to talk about Felix BUT I HAVE THINGS TO SAY
Tbh i was never a fan of the art style. I just really dislike the old school anime style. I prefer the 3D animation FAR more but sometimes the characters (well mostly Marinette) just have these really exaggerated and anime-esque expressions that just... don't fit. And it ends up looking really weird. Perfect for the PV. 3D... not so much.
I never knew Mime and Mr Pigeon were fixed villains. But now that i do i really like the idea. It gives more room to develop them and they just become so more compelling for it. Unfortunately the only reoccurring villain we get for the 3D series is Hawkmoth and he... is a horrible character. All his dialogue is bland, cliche, and generally the same. And his approach for getting the miraculouses is just.... ugh. I'm gonna stop myself there before i derail this entire post lol.

No, no, it's fine to talk about Felix in this thread, as long as it won't be strictly about Felix. XD Most fans immediately discuss about his character when the 2D PV is brought up.
I'm honestly more attached to 2D cartoons, so ML was my huge exception when it came to its form of animation. And I'm not really sure if they were originally supposed to be fixed villains, but I assumed because it's my kind of thing XD I do enjoy having more than one fixed villain in shows. It just seemed so... right for the big ol' hotshot Hawkmoth having henchmen like Mr. Mime and Mr. Pigeon. He could akumatize others, yeah, but having those two by his side would be very interesting. XD
Of course in the 3D show now, I wouldn't want that since Mr. Mime is Mylene's dad and Mr. Pigeon just wants to feed the pigeons.

I like the darker feel of the 2D PV, but the feel is a little typical for a magical heroine/hero show. (Maybe it's just my thinking now, if I am a kid, I won't think so.) Hope to see 2D version being made into a story/movie/comic as I find it interesting and something that can be expanded further, especially with Hawkmoth's evil intentions.
Not much comments for Felix as I am fine with either Felix or Adrien, just that Felix seems a little too mean instead of shy/reserved (as he meant be) in the PV.
Though I do hope that the CGI Hawkmoth has more character and mentioned a bit of what he wanted to do from stealing the Miraculous. (Like what kind of evil things that Hawkmoth wanted to do other than just manipulating people and wrecking havoc in Paris)
Sorry if I sidetracked or missed anything here, do let me know if I did. As I tend to accidentally mixed up with the 2D PV and the CGI versions at times. And anyone knows the song used in this PV? (or it's unknown to-date)

I'm not sure what the song is, exactly. According to the ML Wiki, it's a test song performed by Noam Kaniel.
