The cat looked at the boy like he was daft. Its slit eyes scrutinized his features. The boy had been expecting the cat to simply hiss when its mouth parted open, but instead a very accented angry voice called up to him. "Listen kid, I ain't lost. Now put me back down and let me finish my meal."

"Did you just-am I just-you talked," the boy sputtered as his eyes widened-but he did not let go of the cat.
